Web Mapping

The NRGIS group currently supports a number of web mapping projects, including the Vital Signs Internet Mapping Service (See Web Mapping, VSIMS), and its predecessor, the Great Lakes Network Internet Mapping Service.

Our current mapping services are based on a custom ArcIMS 9.1 implementation.  We are in process of evaulating this infrastructure to potentially include ArcGIS Server, ESRI Image Server, and ArcIMS 9.2.  In addition to creating stand-alone web mapping applications, we are evaluating the ability to display maps as part of a service oriented architecture (SOA).
