The NPS Vegetation Mapping Inventory Program uses the PLOTS Database, v4 (latest V4.0, Sept 2015) as an integral part of data management.  PLOTS v4 is a relational database designed to store vegetation inventory field data for taxonomy and accuracy assessment (e.g., geo-referenced plot location, species abundance and cover data per plot, plot classification, and accuracy assessment point data).

PLOTS v4 is a Microsoft Access database. You must have Microsoft Access 2007 (Service Pack 2) or later installed on your computer in order to use it.

PLOTs v4 has undergone substantial reviews by NPS staff, NatureServe and other ecological partners across the U.S. This updated and enhanced version of PLOTs is now required for use in the collection of taxonomic data necessary for vegetation inventories.

Latest Version: 4.0 (5/2015)includes a "what's new file".
