The NPS Vegetation Inventory Program uses the PLOTS Database, v3 (latest V3.2, Mar 2011) as an integral part of data management.  PLOTS v3 is a relational database designed to store vegetation inventory field data for taxonomy and accuracy assessment (e.g., geo-referenced plot location, species abundance and cover data per plot, plot classification, and accuracy assessment point data).

PLOTS v3 is a Microsoft Access database. You must have Microsoft Access 2007 (Service Pack 2) or later installed on your computer in order to use it. PLOTs v3 has undergone substantial reviews by NPS staff, NatureServe, and VegBranch. This updated and enhanced version of PLOTs is now required for use in the collection of taxonomic data necessary for vegetation inventories.

Latest Version: 3.2 (3/2011)includes a "what's new file".

TIP: MS Access 2007 should have service pack 2 installed (SP2). If you have trouble opening this database, run MS Office update and get the latest service pack. This database is running on: Access 2007 (12.0.6535.5005) SP2 MSO (12.0.6545.5004)
