How to Prepare for and Hold a Vital Signs Scoping Workshop
One of the best examples of how to plan for and conduct a scoping workshop to determine the vital signs of ecosystem health for a park is the approach taken by the Lake Mead NRA. Two documents are available for download here that describe in detail the approach taken at Lake Mead to develop their vital signs monitoring plan. The document lamewksp.doc is the May 1999 summary report on the process they followed, and lame_ho.doc has some of the handouts that they sent out prior to the scoping workshop to all of the subject experts that were invited.
