Metric GIS Data

NPScape metric GIS data are derived using published and authoritative source data in seven major measure categories (human population, housing, roads, land cover, landscape pattern, climate, and conservation status). A summary of the available years, spatial resolution, and geographic coverage by measure is provided here. To download the metric data, follow the links below and you will be prompted to download each as a zip file.

Climate

NPScape does not redistribute interpolated climate data. Standardized methods – downloadable from here – facilitate data access and analysis of the following metrics/variables:

  • AK and Canada, Mean, Water Year Mean, Percentile, Zonal Statistics [4 temp and precip variables], SNAP, 1901-2006 [monthly], SOP & ArcGIS Toolbox for accessing and analyzing data
  • CONUS, Mean, Water Year Mean, Percentile, Zonal Statistics [5 termp and precip variables], PRISM, 1895-present, 1971-2000 and 1981-2010 normals [monthly], SOP & ArcGIS Toolbox for accessing and analyzing data
  • CONUS, Mean, Water Year Mean, Percentile, Zonal Statistics [8 precip and snow variables], SNODAS, 10/1/2003-present [daily], SOP & ArcGIS Toolbox for accessing and analyzing data
  • World, Mean, Water Year Mean, Percentile, Zonal Statistics [8 temp, precip, humidity, sunshine, and wind variables], CRU, 1961-1990 climatologies [monthly], SOP & ArcGIS Toolbox for accessing and analyzing data
