Welcome to the Great Lakes Inventory & Monitoring Network
The Great Lakes Inventory & Monitoring Network (GLKN) is an office of the National Park Service
dedicated to helping nine national park units inventory and monitor significant natural resources. The nine units extend from the
boreal forests of northern Minnesota to the sand dunes of southern Lake Michigan and they represent the major freshwater ecosystems of
the Upper Midwest.
Core staff are stationed at a central Network Office in Ashland WI with field offices at Mississippi National River & Recreation
Area, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, and Voyageurs National Park.
