Ecological Restoration

Ecological Restoration:

The long history of human disturbance in southern California, as well as the influence of surrounding urban developments, has left the natural ecosystems at many sites damaged or degraded. A vital component of park management is the restoration of ecosystems to its natural function. In the Mediterranean Coast Network, parks are actively repairing the damage to natural environments from the re-introduction of bald eagles to the Channel Islands to the removal of non-native invasive weeds in the Santa Monica Mountains.
