Research Opportunities
Individuals seeking to enhance their understanding of the natural environments of the parks and the interface between the human and natural communities may do so through a number of opportunities.
For researchers interested in conducting scientific studies in the parks and would like information on the scope of research for each park as well as funding opportunities, please visit the California Mediterranean Research Learning Center website. All research in the parks requires a valid National Park Service research permit. Permits may be obtained at the NPS Research Permits and Reporting System website.
Internships and volunteer opportunities for students (college, recent graduates, etc.) are available for a large number of science and research studies. For more information, please visit the internship and volunteer program pages for each park:
- Cabrillo National Monument
- Channel Islands National Park
- Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area
