About the NPSpecies Data Delivery Tool
The species lists presented here have all gone through a certification process. This involves the evaluation and review of the species information by local experts who are well-versed in the biology, taxonomy and nomenclature of species in the network parks.
During certification, participants review the associated information on Park Status (Present in Park, Probably Present, Historic, Encroaching, Unconfirmed, False Report), Abundance (Abundant, Uncommon, Common, Rare, Occasional, Unknown), Residency (Breeder, Resident, Migratory, Vagrant, Unknown), and Nativity (Native, Non-Native, Unknown). They also decide on the nomenclature for both scientific and common names, guided by the most current literature available. To fully interpret the data, download a copy of the Certification Profile. This contains further details on the taxonomic sources used, other references used in the certification process, the people involved in the data certification, and how to interpret certain values such as Abundance and Residency.
