GIS
Geographic Information System (GIS) plays an important role in the NCPN. Most of the inventories conducted have a spatial component, which is tracked using GIS. As the monitoring of vital signs begins, GIS will be a key component of the data and analysis. The NCPN GIS shop works with other staff members and park personnel to create, edit, and update spatial datasets.

GPS
Much spatial data is collected using Global Positioning Systems (GPS). The NCPN uses both mapping and recreational GPS receivers, depending on the need and accuracy of the resultant data.
