Dustin Perkins
Program Manager
Responsible for continued planning, management, implementation and coordination of all
aspects of the NCPN I&M Program. Before coming to the NCPN, Dusty served as the I&M
coordinator for the NPS-IMR Southern Plains Inventory and Monitoring Network. Prior to
joining NPS, Dusty was a Wildlife Biologist for the Fish and Wildlife Service, Naples, FL.
Education: B.S. Wildlife Ecology, University of Maine, M.S. Wildlife and Fisheries
Conservation, University of Massachusetts, and Ph.D. Wildlife Ecology, University of Maine.
Helen Thomas
Data Manager
Responsibe for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the network's data
infrastructure and standards. Expertise includes data modeling, database design, and
web-based information systems design, development, and implementation.
Education: B.S. Decision & Information Sciences, University of Maryland, M.S. Operations Research,
University of Texas, Ph.D. Information Technology, Georgia Tech.
Dana Witwicki
Vegetation Ecologist
Responsible for the upland, integrated riparian, and climate monitoring programs. Background in plant/soil ecology and invasives. Education: B.S. Biology, Cornell University, M.S. Environmental Science, Oregon State University.
Aneth Wight
Cartographic Technician
Obtains, creates and manages spatial data for the network; creates maps
and performs spatial analyses. Expertise: GIS, cartography and GPS technology.
Education: B.S. Geography and Earth Resources, Utah State University.
Douglas Perry
Administrative Technician
Maintains budget and account data, manages time, travel, purchasing, and personnel
actions for network staff. Provides all levels of staff and program assistance.
Education: B.S. Physical Geography, Northern Michigan University.
Amy Tendick
Biological Science Technician
Photointerpretation for vegetation mapping projects, primarily Canyonlands NP. Supports other vegetation mapping parks and tasks. Coodinates remaining vegetation mapping field work. Education: B.S. in
Renewable Natural Resources with an emphasis in Rangeland Science from the University of Arizona.
Russ DenBleyker
Data Management Assistant
Provides programming assistance to network staff, designs databases, develops
web pages and computerizes data. Expertise in using I&M databases, Visual Basic,
Cold Fusion. Education: B.A. Mathematics, University of Northern Colorado.
David Thoma
Hydrologist
Responsible for collection and analysis of water quality data across the network.
Background is in watershed and soil science with an emphasis on operational remote
sensing applications that address resource management needs. Education: B.S. Agronomy,
University of Arkansas, M.S. Soil Science, Montana State University, and Ph.D. in
Watershed Science from University of Minnesota.
Rebecca Harms Weissinger
Ecologist
Coordinates the field crews for upland, riparian, and invasive plant monitoring and assists
with riparian and springs and seeps protocol development and implementation. Education: M.S.
in Environmental Science and Policy, Northern Arizona University.
Sarah Topp
Biological Science Technician
Responsible for Vegetation Monitoring crews (Crew Leader, Uplands), and collecting data across network parks. Education: B.S. in Botany, University of Idaho.
Alice Wondrak Biel
Writer-Editor
Responsible for creating a variety of communication products designed to support the
network’s inreach and outreach efforts. Before joining the I&M program, Alice was a
writer-editor for the Yellowstone Center for Resources, Yellowstone National Park.
Education: B.A. Phil. Interdisciplinary Studies, Miami University; M.A, American Studies,
University of Wyoming; Ph.D. Geography, University of Colorado.

Katrina Lund
Biological Science Technician
Responsible for Vegetation Monitoring crews (Crew Leader, Riparian), and collecting data across network parks. Education: B.S. Watershed Ecology, Utah State University
Kelon Crawford
Hydrologic Technician
Responsible for the collection and analysis of water quality data primarily in Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Capitol Reef National Parks. Also assists with groundwater monitoring in riparian zones within network parks. Education: B.A. Geography, Earth Sciences concentration, University of Texas at Austin.
