Species Occurrence Inventory

Lists of the vertebrates and vascular plants currently known to occur in parks have been and continue to be compiled and verified.

The goal for I&M networks is to document through existing, verifiable data and targeted field investigations the occurrence of 90% of the species of vascular plants and vertebrates known to occur within park boundaries. All species information is entered into NPSpecies, the National Park Service’s biodiversity database.  The information is then certified by experts in the field.  Currently NPSpecies is not available to the public, but we are providing species lists for Pacific Island Network parks. See also the Species Distribution site for reports and information on biological inventory work.

Status
Terrestrial vertebrate and vascular plant data have been certified for American Memorial Park, Hawaii Volcanoes NP, Haleakala NP, Kalaupapa NHP, Kaloko-Honokohau NHP, National Park of American Samoa, Puukohola Heiau NHS, Puuhonua o Honaunau NHP, and War in the Pacific NHP.
