The Southeast Alaska Inventory and Monitoring Network is one of 32
networks across the United States that further the National Park Service’s
strategy to improve park management through greater reliance on scientific
information. The SE Alaska Network supports three national park units located in northern
Southeast Alaska: Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Klondike Gold Rush National Historical
Park, and Sitka National Historical Park.
The purpose of the Inventory and Monitoring Program is to design and implement long-term
ecological monitoring and provide results to park managers, science partners, and the public.
The intent is to provide periodic assessments of critical resources to evaluate the integrity of
park ecosystems and better understand ecosystem processes. The specific goals of Inventory and Monitoring
