Water

Water is a critical resource. Changing the distribution, timing, or quality of water (both surface and groundwater) can have substantial impacts upon the natural system. Understanding the water cycle, both in the short-term (weekly) and over longer periods, is a prerequisite to understanding the rest of the natural system. Below are links to weekly summaries of water depth and flow for a number of regions in South Florida (Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park), and Regional Summary Reports that analyze watershed issues over longer time periods.
For current water quality information visit the website for the Southeast Environmental Research Center Water Quality Monitoring Network. Water quality information for EVER and BISC are found under the South Florida Estuaries link, while DRTO information is under the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary link.
