Organization
Organization of the Southern Plains Network revolves around two entities: the Board of Directors and The Technical Committee. Both of these committees were established by the network charter.
The Board of Directors provides oversight and ensures individual park participation in the inventory and monitoring planning process. It makes all final decisions regarding the network. The board of directors is comprised of an Executive Committee comprising three Superintendents from network parks that each serves a three-year term on a rotational basis, the chair of the Technical Committee who serves a two-year term, and the Network Coordinator and Intermountain Regional I&M Coordinator who are both permanent board members. In addition, all the remaining Superindentants from network parks not on the Exectivie committee are regular voting members. Two advisory, non-voting members are from the Great Plains Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) and the Gulf Coast CESU.
