Aniakchak National Monument and Preserve Soil Inventory
Aniakchak National Monument and Preserve Soil Inventory

The inventory program acquires baseline information for a variety of resources, from bibliographic information to species occurrence and distribution. The baseline knowledge from inventories is used to inform effective long-term management and stewardship of natural resources.

Over two-thirds of the land managed by the National Park Service is in Alaska. Because of the vastness of national parklands coupled with extreme weather and short growing seasons in Alaska, the inventories for base cartography, soils, and landcover are managed at the regional level. The remaining baseline inventories are managed at the national level.
